Contributions

The Voice of Housing is the Political Action Committee for the HBA of Chester & Delaware Counties. This PAC raises funds from members of the HBA to be disbursed to political parties, political action committees, and candidates seeking election for office in the Pennsylvania State Senate, Pennsylvania House of Representatives, Chester County Commission, Delaware County Council, and municipal seats, as appropriate. The HBA is able to provide grassroots and financial support to candidates who are supportive of the building industry and are likely to be successful in their bid at election.

The Voice of Housing PAC Committee will give preference to those candidates in both contested and open seat elections who have completed a candidate questionnaire, participated in a candidate interview, and have received a recommendation for support from the committee.  In races involving incumbents, the committee will give preference to an incumbent who has historically supported the HBA and the building industry.

Candidate Interviews

The PAC committee will make every effort to interview candidate for office. Candidates will be asked to complete the candidate questionnaire and meet with members. Based on the results of the interview and the responses to the questionnaire, the committee will determine if financial support, grassroots support, or a combination are appropriate.

Fundraising

The HBA strives to maintain a vibrant political action committee to assist in supporting pro-housing candidates in their efforts to seek or maintain an elected office. Each year, we solicit contributions and hold fundraisers to meet this end. However, contributions can be made at any time.

In 2009, the HBA launched an internal initiative to identify "Foundation of 15" members, those individuals who would commit at least $750 to the Voice of Housing during the course of the year.  We would like to take the opportunity to acknowledge and thank the following members for their leadership and and support of our government affairs efforts:

Now it is more important than ever to stay connected and stay together and support our industry. Also, smart marketing, information, general advice and peer support are for every one of us and the HBA has a lot to offer in these areas.
