The HBA Raised $150,000 for Catherine Twomey House; Receives Corporate Champions Award

The HBA of Chester & Delaware Counties received the 2016 Corporate Champions Award from the Home of the Sparrow for its contributions to the Catherine Twomey House project. HBA members donated more than $150,000 in time, money, labor, and resources to the help with renovations.

The Home of the Sparrow has been partnering with women facing homelessness to secure housing in order to achieve stability for the future. With this in mind, they have undertaken the Catherine Twomey House initiative. This project involved the conversion of a large home into a 5-unit apartment for older women, living below the poverty line. It is in close proximity to public transportation, healthcare, grocery, and community resources. Built in 1919 and located in Coatesville, it will house up to 6 women in need at any given time.

Many members of the HBA generously donated their time, talent, and resources to help turn this project into reality, including: McKee Builders, Bob Wagner’s Flooring, Rockwall, Sherwin Williams, Ferguson Enterprises, Tague Lumber, AJACS Painting, Lighting By Design, Santa’s Heating & AC, Berkshire Hathaway Home Services, Devon Office, Vince Pennoni, Frank Iacobucci, Nolen Builders, and Pohlig Builders and HBA Community Service Committee Co-chairs Carrie Sullivan and Francine Dague.
