HBA of Chester & Delaware Counties Wins Statewide Best Community Service Project of the Year

The Home Builders Association of Chester & Delaware Counties was awarded the Pennsylvania Builders Association (PBA) Best Community Service Project during the Installation & Awards Banquet at the Omni Bedford Springs Resort on March 18.

“The HBA is very proud of our members and the effort to bring safe, ADA-compliant renovations to a family in need,” says Lauren Adams, Executive Officer of the HBA.

The HBA was recognized for their project, the War Trophy Lane Project (aka Benny’s room), a project that renovated a family home to accommodate a child’s new medical requirements. HBA member Joe Behrle of Behrle Construction requested that their construction permit fees be waived and the local government unanimously approved.

The garage and laundry room areas of the house were converted into a bedroom and bathroom with all of the ADA-compliant upgrades necessary to allow the family to bring their son Benny home from the hospital and live with him in a traditional family setting. Through the generosity of many HBA members and community businesses, all flooring, plumbing, electrical, and garage door work for the project was donated.

The organizations involved received news coverage in the form of local newspapers and awards. The HBA received coverage in the Delco Times, as well as recognition at the 2015 Synergy Awards.

Now it is more important than ever to stay connected and stay together and support our industry. Also, smart marketing, information, general advice and peer support are for everyone of us anf HBA has a lot of offer in these areas.
