hba hosts educational series providing critical industry updates
West Chester, PA- The Home Builders Association of Chester & Delaware Counties (HBA) will be hosting a two part remodeler’s education series that will cover important federal and state legislative and regulatory updates on remodeling issues. The HBA is also hosting a green building panel discussion that will discuss builder experiences incorporating various green building standards during construction, and what inspections and planning is necessary to meet those standards.
On Friday, February 20, the HBA will host a luncheon featuring Therese Crahan, Executive Director of the NAHB Remodelers Council. Ms. Crahan will provide an economic outlook for remodeling activities, as well as a legislative and regulatory update, covering topics such as the federal lead based paint regulations, green building tax credits, and other emerging issues.
On Friday, March 6, Lou Biacchi, PBA Director of Government Affairs will provide an overview of the Pennsylvania Contractor Licensure Law, which goes into effect on July 1st. The law impacts contractors doing $5,000 or more in business annually, prescribes insurance coverage requirements as well as contract requirements.
The Green Building Panel discussion will feature Joe Mingioni of Mingioni Construction, Glenn Gleason of Dewey Homes, Chadd Martin of TMG, and Jim Dunleavy of EAM.
“Given the importance of these issues, both education sessions will be open to members and non-members. These laws, regulations, and building standards will impact remodelers, contractors, municipal officials, and others. We have a responsibility to ensure we are educating people about changes that will impact their business.
All sessions will take place at the West Chester Business Center, 1160 McDermott Drive, West Chester PA, 19380. Registration information is available at the HBA website, http://www.builderpa.com. Questions about any of these sessions can be directed to Michael McGee at mikem@builderpa.com
