Chetty's trailer gone but plan remains
By DAN KRISTIE
COATESVILLE — The trailer on the empty lot at Third Avenue and Lincoln Highway is gone, but that doesn't mean Chetty Builders, the company that intends to develop the lot, is pulling out.
According to Lou Voigt, Chetty Builders' senior project manager, the trailer was brought in when the company was still planning to build condominiums. Earlier this year, Chetty announced it would build apartments instead.
"It was a sales trailer, and we don't need a sales trailer for apartments," Voigt said. "We left it there for so long because of wishful thinking. We were hoping we could keep the condo idea alive."
LP zoners reject appeal over ARC
By KEITH PHUCAS
LOWER PROVIDENCE — The zoning hearing board denied an appeal of a zoning ordinance Tuesday permitting development of the proposed American Revolution Center (ARC).
The controversial Living History Overlay Ordinance had been approved by the board of supervisors Sept. 6, 2007, by a 3-2 vote, paving the way for the center.
The National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA) and five Lower Providence residents opposing the planned museum and conference center appealed the ordinance, arguing that it constituted "spot zoning" that would interfere with the National Park Service's mission to operate nearby Valley Forge National Historical Park.
